Dryer runs twice and the clothes are still damp

That symptom usually means the duct, not the dryer. In North Redondo it is almost always length. Two- and three-unit townhome rebuilds replaced single-family lots, and laundry landed upstairs or in a garage-level closet. The duct then climbs two floors to a roof cap. Every elbow costs airflow. Lint settles on the vertical run and slides back down when the blower stops.

South Redondo and the Riviera are a different job. Older single-story stock, garage laundry, short wall vent through stucco. Those clear fast. The trouble there is the exterior hood. Painters seal the flap shut. Rodents nest in the last few feet.

Near the harbor and pier, salt spray and marine humidity stiffen damper flaps and corrode hoods. A flap that will not swing freely traps lint at the exit. Screens behind the hood make it worse. Those get removed, not cleaned.

You can check some of this yourself. Run the dryer, then hold a hand at the outside hood. Weak or no air means a restriction. Look for lint on the roof shingles or the stucco below the vent.
